4 Chairperson’s report. Rebecca Cramb, Chairperson, gave overview of year for the charity.
As a charity TDUK entered this year with a lot of unknowns with covid restrictions and financial support ending for the last time. Despite the uncertainty, and further challenges caused by the current cost-of-living crisis, we have had a lot of success and the “better year” that we had hoped for at our last AGM back in October ‘21. Of the many good things we have been working on I wanted to highlight a few:
We have explored new ways of bringing in income so we can continue to keep our sessions priced low to be accessible to kids from all backgrounds.
We have launched new partnerships to grow different aspects of what we can offer and developed new technologies to support them.
We have been investing in the development of our people, both staff and volunteers. From Canva courses which improve our visual communications, to mentorship programs which will develop into long term schemes, we are already seeing the benefit of these new skills.
We continue to strive to be a competitive and fair employer to our staff and I’m proud to say we were able to raise employee salaries to mid-market rates, and reflective of inflation, earlier this year.
As always, I am grateful to the CDO, our Administrator, our volunteers and my fellow trustees who have dedicated countless hours in keeping all the TDUK parts moving. It is a pleasure to work alongside you and see the positive impact the charity has on so many young people.
I know we will continue to aim high as we go in to 2023 and that we will achieve even more together.
Thanks again go to our funders, supporters, coaches, and not least the players.
Thank you also to our staff.
Here is to a better year ahead, with growth and development in our players, coaches, and community influence.

6 Charity Development Officer Report delivered by Tom Cramb, Charity Development Officer.
All of our pre-covid clubs returned, and most of our young people and volunteers stayed on board. We visited over 20 primary schools and met with over 3000 young people (both TDUK records!), saw over 120 players try out one of our clubs, and managed to run 2 scrimmage events where we gathered many of our young folks together for some hard-fought competition at our 2 age groups. We also began the development of our young coach mentor group and are in the process of launching our new fitness and wellbeing app (more on this later!).
Add in several summer camps, including our own very first Girls' camp, and we can look back on a busy year, where most of our goals were reached - and in some cases exceeded!
It has also been an exciting time as we have seen the bulk of our Coaching team shift to school aged former players, who have stepped up in a massive way to not just coach, but also mentor our new generation. I’m so proud of their effort, enthusiasm and leadership.
We also began the development of our young coach mentor group and are in the process of launching our new fitness and wellbeing app (more on this later!).
A further joy has been in watching the success of former TDUK Alumni, both in and out of the game.
Many have moved into university life, with some amazing stories about what our guys want to achieve. It is also exciting to see 2 young men added to our Trustees in recent weeks, both of whom have been known to me since they were teenagers, and both of whom will be assisting in the Junior Coach Mentoring project. There will be challenges ahead, especially in funding terms, but with the Trustees we have and our excellent volunteer group, we are well set to move forward. Once again I would like to thank our Trustees, Coaches and Volunteers for their commitment, enthusiasm and expertise over the past year. Together we ensure that the experience offered to our young people is safe, fun and available to all. Looking to the next year, we have new projects running in North Edinburgh, with at least one and possibly two teams looking for new 7 Election of Trustees. All trustees present stepped down in turn and were re-elected by the other trustees present.
